Red Sucker Lake First Nation in northern Manitoba has written to Premier Selinger disputing the facts surrounding a work permit issued by the Manitoba government to Mega Precious Minerals who is mining in their traditional territory. Chief Les Harper says the province's extension of the permit for an additional six months is based on “falsehoods” asserted by the company.
“The belief that...Mega has met the conditions of the work permit as referred to in Assistant Deputy Minister's letter is refuted and a further issuance of permits or work permit extensions must not be allowed,” states the letter.
