By Lena Campeau, The Leader-Post
I am offended by Premier Brad Wall's use of a First Nation revenue-sharing TV ad for his election purposes. He has opened a can of worms of racism again.
The last time he used it, he won the election.
As a First Nation person, I have experienced racism as far as I can remember as a child.
Racism is like bullying because it feels like it. It is also hateful. Even now, ignorant people yell racist remarks as they drive by - in public places. I find it moreso when TV ads like this come out.
Since federal and provincial governments first formed in Canada, their leaders have undermined First Nations people.
I write this because actions speak louder than words. In the line of government leaders, none has stood out in addressing injustice and fairness for First Nation people. A few examples are severely underfunded education for children living on First Nation reserves, dire poverty, hunger and survival in any way possible.
Is it any wonder that Wall is being approached by First Nation leaders for revenue-sharing? After all, he is the premier of Saskatchewan.
Is there any leader out there - man or woman - who would govern in fairness and justice for all people, including First Nations people?
