Sioux Lookout mayor Dennis Leney says it's been an exciting year in the municipality. He notes the introduction of a new business, and the expansion of their Friendship Accord as some of the highlights.
"One of the highlights is that we have a new Tim Horton's store in Sioux Lookout. We've also just signed a further Friendship Accord with Cat Lake First Nation. It's been quite a progressive year, without too many pitfalls that interrupt us too much," he said.
He notes the work on their Friendship Accord goes back to 2012, and they've been recognized for their work with neighbouring First Nations by municipalities across the country.
"The Friendship Accord was one of the highlights that started back in 2012. It's been recognized by several communities across Canada and as a matter of fact we're request from other communities and First Nations to use the template that we had used for the Friendship Accord. It's looking really, really good. The Federation of Canadian Municipalities has been behind us," he said.
