Grand First Nations Chief Stewart Phillip is safe after his car flipped over when it crashed along Highway 3 this past weekend.
According to a statement from the Union of B.C. Indian Chiefs, Phillip was travelling outside of Hope, B.C. on Friday night in frosty conditions when his vehicle slid out of control.
His vehicle, a Chevrolet Tahoe, collided into a rock face before flipping upside-down about 24 kilometres outside of Hope.
The chief suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
“Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, his wife Joan and their family sincerely express their deep thanks for all the individuals who stopped and immediately rendered first aid,” reads a statement.
“They are profoundly grateful for the care and attention of the first responders and the nurses and doctors of the Fraser Canyon Hospital.”
