Suspended Sen. Brazeau now working at Ottawa strip club: patron

BY CARYS MILLS, OTTAWA CITIZEN

OTTAWA — Suspended Sen. Patrick Brazeau has a new job at an Ottawa strip club, according to a patron.

Brazeau was spotted at Barefax Gentlemen’s Club late Tuesday afternoon and appeared to be working as a manager, a customer said in an email to the Citizen.

“He also will openly answer to the name Sen. Brazeau,” the patron said, adding Brazeau asked about the man’s experience at the club, and dancers were talking about Brazeau’s employment.

The manager working Tuesday night, who wouldn’t give his name, would not confirm whether Brazeau had started working there. He said the club’s owners will answer questions Wednesday morning.

“I got here late,“ the manager said. “I’m the on-duty manager, there’s no one else here. He’s not in the building, that much I know, and if he is, he’s a customer and I don’t know it.“

Brazeau and his lawyer did not respond to requests for comment Tuesday evening.

Frank Magazine published an online report Tuesday saying Brazeau is the strip club’s new daytime manager.

Brazeau was charged last month with fraud and breach of trust for allegedly claiming improper housing and travel expenses.

Separate from the Senate expenses allegations, he was arrested last February in connection with an incident at his Gatineau home and charged with assault and sexual assault. Last week, when Brazeau’s lawyers appeared in court, the trial was pushed back to mid-April. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
