Napanee OPP have charged a man from the Akwesasne First Nation with mischief in connection with two protests this month in Tyendinaga Township.
Police arrested one man Saturday.
John Boots, 43, faces two counts of mischief. He was remanded into custody and was to appear Monday for a bail hearing in Napanee provincial court.
The demonstrations were held to bring attention to the issue of missing and murdered First Nations women in Canada and to protest the federal government's refusal to launch an inquiry.
“The investigation is continuing. Further charges may be laid,” police reported Sunday in a news release. No further details were available Sunday.
