I absolutely concur with the editorial. My people have had 150 years of Ottawa’s paternalism — it continues still.
As far as I’m concerned, that is one day too many for my hereditary chiefs and the people of Tla-o-qui-aht. Some people say for us to move on — that was yesterday.
Well, so were the First and Second World Wars, but they are a part of the school curriculum and are taught in schools so they won’t be forgotten, and should never be.
