Aboriginal children are more likely to die of cancer, according to a new study.
The review, done by researchers in Hamilton, Ontario, looked at 25 years of patients in that province.
It found just under two thirds of native children survived for at least five years after being diagnosed.
That’s compared to almost 80 per cent of other children.
Authors tell The National Post, there’s no evidence that says First Nations kids as a whole aren’t getting proper medical treatment.
Oncologist Dr. Stacey Marjerrison is calling for a larger, national study to find out why this is happening.
