The Mosquito Grizzly Bear's Head First Nation is in mourning after the death of a three year-old girl.
"They're pretty shaken up. They're mourning right now at the First Nation here," Mosquito Chief Daniel Starchief said Saturday.
The girl was struck July 29 by a motor vehicle near a home on the First Nation and died of her injuries Friday morning, Battleford Rural RCMP reports.
The girl's family, from Mosquito, Little Pine and Thunderchild First Nations, came to Mosquito for the funeral Saturday, Starchief said. There are many rumours about what happened, Starchief said, but he declined to comment further.
The male driver of the vehicle wasn't hurt and alcohol wasn't a factor, police say.
The RCMP are continuing their investigation and have not yet decided on whether to lay charges.
